My name is Malique Mitchell and I have been a Liberal Arts student at LaGaurdia for 2 years. My linguistic background goes only as far as a basic new yorker accent. When I was younger I lived in St.Croix where I had an accent but that was 15 years ago. Now I have no accent nor do I speak another language.

I feel like people often think they don’t have an accent because they’re so use to hearing themselves speak. You may have an accent and not even know it.
I agree with Daisy, being from New York we’re naturally told that we have a weird way of speaking due to our style of talking. Growing up traveling to relatives outside of New York ive been told on numerous occasions that I have a weird accent and in my mind I assume they have an accent instead of me.
